Unicoi Springs Camp Resort, Helen, GA

Today we departed the Pointes West Campground and drove to Unicoi Springs Camp Resort, Helen, GA to spend two weeks in our RV Timeshare.  We set up our  coach in site number 253, by the pond with the Canadian Geese all over.  Love to watch and listen to them.  We even had a family with six chicks, beautiful sight.  The resort is nestled in the northeast Georgia Mountains, the resort was established in 1983, it has 300 sites with full hookups, cable TV, Wi-Fi, 2 pools, a wonderful 2-story log cabin-style clubhouse, a chapel, and full time security. We love coming to this RV park and spending time in northern Georgia.

Pointes West RV Resort - Ft Gordon, GA

On Tuesday we drove the RV to Ft Gordon, GA, Pointes West RV Resort.  The trip took us through Harlem, GA where The Laurel and Hardy Museum is located.

We love spending a few day at Pointes West RV Resort, we park the Jeep and don't touch it again until we leave. We truly RV 'camp' here with bike rides each day and a campfire every night - spending as much time as we can in nature.

This is the only RV park we visit where we never leave the campgrounds until it is departure day. We hiked and biked each day and collected fire wood to make a big campfire.  I cooked our dinner over the fire every evening and as the sun set other campers joined us to roast marshmallows and tell camping stories around the fire. It is always nice to get to know your camping neighbors.

Last night we met the camp area hosts, Kenneth and Tiffany and their lovely children Bethany, Lincoln and Dash - a fun family. They joined us for a marshmallows roasting. They had just picked up their new pet puppy, an eight week old French bulldog, he was so cute! Nice time under the stars with the neighbors and their funny puppy.

Tomorrow we go to Helen, GA.

Trolley Tour of Savannah, GA

Denise, John, and I went on a Trolley Tour of Savannah, our driver, Joycee, was amazing - full of funny tails and great stories about the city. Sadly, Terry could not join us - he had to work today. We had lunch at the Pirate's House - John first ate here back in the 1960's. He says it is still pretty much like it was over 50 years ago.

Denise is a wonderful tour guide. We tasted different gourmet popcorns, bought cookies at Byrd's and visited a few candy shops where she knew most of the candy makers by name. Another wonderful day seeing all that Savannah has to offer.

After touring Savannah, we watched the two movies associated with this fabulous old town -  'Forest Gump' and 'Midnight in the Garden of Good and Evil'.

Savannah, GA

Terry and Denise gave us a tour of their beautiful new home in Richmond Hills. So good seeing them and their cute dog, Carly, again.

They've only lived here a short time but already know the area like the back of their hand. They showed us some of their favorite parks and restaurants. .

We had lunch at a cool little Airstream RV
themed restaurant, the Treylor Park. The place was busy so we started with seats at the bar while we waited for a table to open. The bartender was fun - he gave some good recommendations. It was not long until our table was ready. The Treylor Park specializes in comfort food with a twist; just one look at the menu and you know the chef has a creative side. Everyone ordered something different and we all shared. We had a chicken salad that was huge and fresh, yummy PB&J chicken wings a tasty grilled cheese & soup, pancake tacos w/strawberry salsa - so different and fruity good, pulled-pork tacos which were delicious. And we had an order of waffle fries on the table that were good too. A wonderful lunch. We spent the afternoon wondering around the beautiful parks and shops of Savannah.

We ended this wonderful day with sundaes at Leopold's. Leopold's Ice Cream was founded in 1919 by three brothers from Greece. Their ice cream has been a Savannah treat for almost one hundred years.

Holbrook Pond Campground at Ft Strwart, GA

We drove the coach to Holbrook Pond Campground at Ft Stewart, GA.  A little primitive, but we will spend very little time at the RV park - our time will be taken up with tours of Savannah. We saw a team of maintenance workers preparing a new section of the RV park - so it will be in much better condition the next time we come through. While we are here we will visit two good friends that recently moved up here from the Orlando area. We have not seen Terry and Denise since our stay in Key West in August 2017 when they were there for a visit.

FMCA Rally in Perry, GA

It has been a great four days at the FMCA Rally in Perry. We were here two years ago and had a great time so we did not want to miss this one. We parked with a bunch of other Entegra Coach owners and met up with them each afternoon for a social gathering.

Me, Bonnie, and Alan

It was another terrific rally, meeting new friends and running into old ones. John and I were getting on a tram to ride to the other side of the fairgrounds and some one called out my name. I turned around and it was Louise! We met Louise and her husband Birdie on our first trip to Alaska two years ago. A great couple! We invited them to join us for a dinner party that RV One was hosting.

The RV One Dinner Party was held at a unique venue, a huge rustic barn with elegant crystal chandeliers and strings of twinkling lights - absolutely beautiful! We all sat at a table

John, Louise, Birdie, and me

with our pals Bonnie and Alan. The food was delicious and the band played good music; good food, good music, good friends, it was a wonderful evening.

Tomorrow we head back to Cocoa Beach, Florida.

ECOA Rally in Stone Mountain, GA

We attended the ECOA Rally in Stone Mountain, GA. The weather was freezing, it was really too cold to enjoy all the park has to offer. On previous trips here John and I loved riding bikes on the hills.

It is always great seeing our good ol' Entegra friends and meeting new ones. While we were at the rally a group of us toured the National Indoor RV facility in Atlanta, a huge building and they are there and already to help you out with your RV storage and maintenance needs.

On another day Bonnie and Alan joined us on a trip to see The World of Cocoa-Cola in Atlanta. We always have a fun time with Bonnie and Alan and this was another wonderful day with them.
